Dear Club Members and Friends,
We are excited to invite all club members, friends, and anyone interested in helping out to our trail clearing event from November 8th to 10th. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and contribute to maintaining the beautiful trails we all love. Whether you are a long-time member or new to our community, we would love to have you join us!
This event is particularly special as we are working towards a significant milestone: opening the trail all the way from Ray Benson Snow Park to Three Creek Snow Park for the very first time. This has been a goal for our club, and we are so close to achieving it. Your support and participation will help make this dream a reality, and we need as many hands as possible to get there.
We'll meet at 9:00 AM on Saturday at the gravel pit staging area off FS Road 1514. If you are available to come on Friday to help set up, please contact Steve Duch at 503-881-8585.
Staging Location Details:
The staging area is about 1.2 miles west of FS Road 16 (3 Creeks Lake Road) on FS Road 1514. Look for signs along the way to guide you to the meeting spot.
What to Bring:
ATV/UTV: If you don't have one, no problem! We usually have extra room in other vehicles, or you can drive to the trailhead. Note that most of the heavy cutting will be in a roadless area, which means we'll need to proceed on foot.
Food and Water: Please bring enough for yourself, as lunch will not be provided. Snacks and plenty of water are highly recommended!
Gloves: Essential for protecting your hands.
Tree Pruning Tools: Any tools you can bring will help us get the job done.
Ladder: Useful for installing trail markers.
Hammer: For putting up trail marking diamonds.
Chainsaw: If you have a chainsaw and are certified by the US Forest Service to use it in the forest, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Goals for the Weekend:
We have attached a KMZ file showing the work area, a picture of the task ahead, and a map of the staging area to help you prepare and navigate.
We want everyone to feel welcome—even if you can't come for the whole weekend, any help is greatly appreciated. There is plenty of space at the staging area for RVs, so feel free to join us for the entire weekend if you can. It's a wonderful opportunity to camp out, enjoy the camaraderie, and make a positive impact on our trails.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Steve Duch at 503-982-4188. We look forward to seeing you there and thank you in advance for your support!
