Avalanche Training & Certification

Motorized avalanche training runs Feb 3–8, 2027 with Stable Mountain at Santiam Pass. Registration closes Jan 9.
Level 2 ($495): classroom Feb 3, 6–9 PM; field days Feb 4–5, 8 AM–6 PM. Requires Level 1 and Rescue.
Rescue ($295): Feb 6 on snow, 8 AM–6 PM.
Level 1 ($515, dinner included): classroom Feb 6, 6–9 PM; field days Feb 7–8, 8 AM–6 PM.
Bring your own sled, beacon under five years old, probe and shovel. No sled rentals. Field days meet at Ray Benson Sno-Park in front of the Groomer Shelter; a Sno-Park permit is required. Classroom evenings meet at the Groomer Shelter, or at Big Lake by snowmobile when more than 15 people register. Sessions depend on snow. If Ray Benson cannot be used, the organizers will try to move the session elsewhere on the same date, and refunds are decided on that basis. With no snow, a session is cancelled.
